Lighting In Architecture / Enlightened Thoughts
This course introduces attendees to the essential core concepts of lighting design. It begins with a high level view of the place of light in the life of humans. With examples of paintings from art history we analyze light effects to understand how light can create emphasis, mood, mystery and meaning. We'll cover the role of lighting and core technical concepts of lighting design including general vs. accent light, quantification, architectural integration, horizontal vs. vertical illumination, color temperature, hierarchy, materials and color rendering metrics. Attendees will also explore a case study of an award-winning project.
